A sharp knife is an indispensable tool in the kitchen. Having a reliable sharp knife at hand will make cooking a lot more fun and easy, and food more delicious and pretty. Even the best knives will dull from the moment you put them to use. Maintenance is essential to keep your knife performing consistently.

Do you want to know everything about steels, burrs, shapes, geometry, stones, and sharpening techniques? Come and learn from Tim from Dōguya. With his guidance, you will learn how to sharpen a knife on 14th July 2024 at 14.00 at the Fermentary in Amsterdam.

Always wondered how to sharpen your knives the right way and with the outmost care? Want to learn how to sharpen knives by hand on Japanese whetstones? Or are you in need of a gift for a friend? Then this is for you.

During this afternoon Tim will take us through;

14:00-14:15 INTRO: Welcome drink and a quick hello
14:15 (approx 30-45 mins) PART 1: Theory; background and basics of knife sharpening with Japanese wetstones
14:45 (approx 30 mins) PART 2: Practice; you get to try it out for yourself
15:15 (approx 15-30 mins) PART 3: Test, Tasting & Q&A; we put the newly sharpened knives to the test, and taste some Fermentary products while having a group chat
16:15ish WRAP-UP: If you want to buy any Dōguya or Fermentary, now’s your chance.

When: Sunday, July 14th, 14:00-16:30 at the Fermentary (Zonneplein 19)

Tickets: €69.50 per person
